Oliver & S Bubble Dress

So with the husband out yesterday for a bucks day/night and suffering severe sewing withdrawals after my manic week, I found myself obssesively sewing last night.

The result....
A new dress for Adele, the Oliver & S Bubble dress, complete with scalloped edges which I think are just so, so, so devine!

The dress was made with a lovely soft Art Gallery fabric from Hawthorne Threads - I can't seem to find it online now though - and I lined the dress in a plain white cotton lawn.

I read an old review of this pattern on Sew, Mama, Sew, which I must say I don't agree with. This pattern is super easy to sew, the scalloped edges are not tricky and I think they are just stunning! They really do add another dimension to the dress.
I have made this dress before which also probably helped. The only modifications I made to the pattern, based on previous experience, was to shorten the length of the dress. I did this by cutting 1cm from the bottom of the outer skirt and about 3cms from the lining. Unfortunately this impacted the last scalloped bump, but hey - it's still pretty darn cute! I think I might get a violet ribbon to sew around the bodice and get some matching buttons too.

Here's Miss Adele wearing her 0-3 month bubble dress back in  March.
I also finished another Sis Boom baby bubble suit last night too - yes it was mega sewing binge!! But I'll try to post it tomorrow when the babe feels like taking photos again.

  3. Wow great work with the sewing... I love the bubble dress especially the scalloped edges, I think taking the extra time to do them would be definately worth it! Are there any pictures of Adele that are't cute!
