When it rains, it pours

Thank god it's Saturday!!

I'm so glad to be seeing the back of this week, it's been full on! Aside from prac teaching which has actually been quite enjoyable, most other parts of our family life have been a bit of a struggle.

James and Dave had gastro on the weekend, Adele had bronchialitis, Dave finished up his old job (after just 4 weeks), we bought a new car for Dave, two family members are still gravely ill and have needed a number of visits from us, I've barely managed to get the kids out of the house each morning, fed and dressed by 8am and now I am quite sick. I'm also tired, tired, tired!!

Thankfully I have a three week break from prac teaching before my next block, which is a massive 3 weeks!! I don't know how I will cope! At least Dave will be working alot closer to home so hopefully he'll be able to pick up a bit of the workload.

Anywho - enough whining. It's done and time to rest and sew.

Lifting my spirits yesterday as I returned home was a very welcome parcel from Hawthorne Threads with this lovely selection of fabrics.
The fabrics on the top left will be made into simple summer shorts for the boys, they are from Riley Blake's 'Wheels' range and Scarlett Fig 'Urban Circus'. The fabric on the bottom right will be a dress for Adele, probably the Oliver & S Bubble dress, which I'm thinking will be her 1st birthday dress. The Sandi Henderson 'Meadowsweet' fabric above that, the pink and dotty ones will be another Sis Boom Baby bubble romper. I just adore the one that I made for her a while ago and she wears it all the time with tights and a tee. There will probably be a few more of those to come this summer.

Lastly the three fabrics to the bottom left will be hats for Christmas gifts and the fabric that you can barely see to the top right is for me. Not sure what I'll make. Probably a skirt or something....

Anywho, I have one more assignment due tomorrow night at 11pm then it's back to my old sewing me....

  1. MMM nice fabrics I love the green one with the roads on in.. they will make great shorts, and that top floral is very pretty and a little libertyish. Glad to hear the week went well and is over, and good luck with your assignment.
