Flea Market Finds

This is my first post for Flea Market Finds! Hooray!!

I don't get out to too many markets, op shops or garage sales, but I do try. Hopefully I'll be able to play along here from time to time.

This week I did manage to steal a few moments to visit two local Op Shops. Better yet, Vinnies was having a 50% off day - hooray!

So here's my stash of goodies....
From left and moving clockwise:
  • vintage childrens books: they are not in good condition, which makes it OK to cut them up to make some paper bunting which hopefully the husband will let me hang it in my living room.
  • vintage smocking books: one is particularly old possibly 50's, the other, 'Smocking for Pleasure', is very 80's. My mum mentioned a while ago that she'd like to try smocking. She's exceptionally good at needlework of all kinds, so I thought she might like these and they might encourage her to begin making a little dress for Adele.
  • Encyclopedia of Home Sewing - this isn't that good, but for 50c I thought I'd bring it home for a bit to look over. Lots of not-so-cool quilting, some cute applique and lots of bad cushions - but hey 50c is OK
  • Lotta Jansdotter printing studio kit - this is a good find and the complete, unused kit only cost me $5! I've been thinking about buying some stickers for the wall behind our staircase, but maybe I'll stencil a design there instead??? Regardless this is a good buy for such a small amount of money!
  • Two belts with rings - Just trying to save a trip to Spotlight with these. I mentioned making a belt for this dress and with 50% off at Vinnies, these belts cost only 50c each it's a pretty cheap way to get belt rings without facing all of the other temptations at Spotlight.
  • Lastly, a very retro tablecloth. I don't know what I'll use it for. Maybe a cute frock for Adele.... we'll see.
So that's all for this well - a total of $15 spent and a decent haul of goods I think. For more Flea Market Finds head over to Her Library Adventures.

  3. Hi Christy,

We met at Brown Owls a few months ago and I remember you mentioning some local op shops. Of course I can't remember them now and I'd live to take my cousin to them. Can you recommend any?
    Thanks!

Thanks for leaving a comment. I love reading them, but don't always have the time to respond. Please email me if you have a pressing question :)
