Cami love!!

It's so lovely and warm in Sydney today, definately time to begin wearing some more summery clothes, like shorts, skirts, dresses (with no tights!) and simple little cami tops made with lovely, bright, soft, lightweight fabric. Just like this one!

I finished this late last week and have already worn it twice.
As some of you may recognise, it is made with Anna Maria Horner Little Folks voile which is such a lovely fabric to sew and to wear.

There are small pleats across the front and a simple tie around the back to help provide a little shape. It also only took half a yard of fabric, which was all that I had on hand - bargain!

I used thrifted bias trim to neatly finish the top of the garment and the straps. It's a nice way to give the top a little more stability and durability.

The cami is loosley based on a design from Japanese pattern book, Handmade Gauze Clothes. Naturally the pattern morphed quite a lot during its construction, but I think the vibe is about the same.

This week is kids clothes week at elsiemarley.com and I'm planning to play along. This means I'll be sewing for the kids for at least one hour each day this week. I'll post my progress and results for you all to see. In contrast to those in the northern hemmisphere, my sewing will all be for summer clothes, which I just adore making!

Finally, how adorable is this photo of little miss!!
I've been working to refine this pattern even more and hopefully will be able to share these awesome bonnets with others very, very soon!
