Here is Adele's Christmas dress - an Oliver & S Bubble dress made in Liberty. How posh!
I just adore this pattern for little girls, I dare say it's the best little dress pattern ever. The shaped bodice is just darling, and the bubble is so perfectly sweet. I love that this dress always has a nice finish as it's fully lined.
This version is made with Emma and Georgina Liberty which was added to my last Shaukat order specifically for Adele. Unfortunately just prior to these photos, I realised Adele sweet little powder blue sandals which match perfectly, were completely broken, so now we must wear boring pink sandals - bum!
I lined the dress in white cotton voile, trimmed it with navy grosgrain ribbon and used vintage buttons to close the back. The button holes are just shocking. The button hole arm on my machine is broken so I need to manually form the length of each line of stitching. Hopefully I can get my machine in for a service and repair during our summer holiday, but until then, it's dodgy button holes or no button holes.
Here's Adele in her dress with the boys for their Santa photo this year. Clearly this photo didn't go to plan. the photographers were exceptionally patient and took over 20 shots, but Adele was frightened and the boys got bored of smiling.
Oh well, does anyone ever get the perfect Santa shot??

Great dress. So very pretty.
ReplyDeleteCompared to the Santa pictures we get yours is perfect!
That is so darling! I have never tried and Oliver & S pattern. I hope you can stop by Saturday and post it at Sew& Tell Saturdays!
ReplyDeleteAw that's a gorgeous little dress - and your little girl looks so serious and cute in it.
ReplyDeleteYes, Santa pictures hmmm... our last year Santa photos featured some slightly off smiles. Turns out Santa was tickling the kids unbeknownst to me, and they didn't know whether or not it was OK!
It's gorgeous-dodgy button holes and all! And that last picture is so sweet! What did she ask for?
ReplyDeleteoh gracious! i love it so much! so so adorable! i wish i had one just like it!
ReplyDeletelove Adeles christmas dress - extra points for having it made with weeks to spare! And considering the fact that in the seven years I've had children I have never managed to get a single photo of the kids with santa yours is a keeper
ReplyDeleteThat is completely adorable, and she looks so sweet! Beautifully made! And in answer to your previous post; I see no reason why a present found on the side of the road should be any less enjoyable than one bought new! She is going to LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteStunning dress and great Santa photo!!
ReplyDeleteWe wanted to pick a funny one with Amelie looking scared but Clementine wasn't looking at the camera...so in the end ours was pretty lame but it's so hard to get them looking / smiling at the same time!
Love the dress! And I love the Liberty print! What an adorable Santa picture!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty dress! This will be my bubs first Santa photo op next week. She's 8 months old, we'll see how she goes! Wish me luck!!!
