Excited!

When I read Katherine's post about her new Burda pants (Burda 6/2010 #105 ), I thought two things:

1. "Wow - cute pants, I think I could make them"
2. "Wow- how lucky is she that her library stocks Burda magazine."

Fast forward a week and I thought I should check to see if maybe I would be so lucky to have a local library that also stocks the magazine and POW!!Result!!
I am totally excited about this and as you can see I have 4 copies to look through for a week. Sewing is quite an expensive hobby, actually it's really quite spendy. So it's nice to find a saving every now and then. I don't think I'll actually make anything from them this week, as my existing sewing list is rather long, but I'm still super excited about this!!

On to Me Made June and I have three more days to show you.

Saturday, 4 June - A challenging day at home with the kids.
Yep - I'm pulling my hair out! Twas an extremely whingey day with the three munchkins, husband working OT and lots of housework to be done. No time for fancy outfits, practical and comfortable was needed and this fitted the bill. Simple jeans with a comfy stretch dress over top. The dress is blogged here and made with vintage Simplicity 5133 (1981) . I'm still super keen to make a Boden style t-shirt dress with 3/4 sleeves, but really want to make one out of black and charcoal stripe stretch. I'm have a little trouble finding some, so welcome any suggestions for places to find some.
Despite the kiddie challenges I still fit in a little cooking. These cinnamon scrolls from the Pioneer Woman were simple and super delicious!

Sunday, 5 June - A little bit of shopping and a family dinner
We have a standing arrangement with my family to catch up for dinner every Sunday - yay!! Mum cooks, we eat and talk. One less meal for me to cook and a little time to watch the kiddies play with the rest of the fam.

This dress is worn a lot! Like at least once a week or once a fortnight. I love the simplicity and versatility of this dress. I love the fabric too! I blogged it here and it was made with Simplicity 2586. I still wish I'd have purchased more of this lovely fabric when I had the chance!

Monday, 6 June - Library and groceries with three kids in tow
Unlike many mums, who wait until child free time to go grocery shopping, I take my kids with me. Basically, I don't want to waste my kid free time doing the groceries, which I HATE doing, and as I race through the shop quickly to avoid tantrums, I generally don't buy as much or impulse shop. All good for the family budget!

Today's outfit is practical and comfy. During winter I layer clothes a lot. I don't often go clothes shopping, so stretch the clothes that I have through the change of weather with cardigans, long sleeve tees and tights. This skirt is blogged here and made with New Look 6898. I probably don't wear this skirt as much as I should, as I'm not happy with the fit. I ended up taking in the back seam quite a bit, which means the side seams sit further back than they should, and that bugs me even if no one else notices.

Back again with more Me Made June later in the week.

  1. see, I LOVE to grocery shop without the kid, straight after he goes to bed in fact. I hit the shop when it's quiet and I look at those people with kids shopping at 8pm and wonder why THEIR kids aren't in bed?!!
