So we're back from a week of fun by the beach. Welcomed, as we drove up to our house, by this.....
My husband's most treasured grass is dead from the heat Sydney has experienced this past week. I think I saw a tear in his eye..... Surely I'm not the only person married to a man who is extremely passionate about his grass????
Thankfully, we are unpacked from our week away and, while the house is trashed, the kids are happy. I've already done four loads of laundry and another two this morning (I think I have another three to go....)
Feels like every towel and item of clothing needs to be washed..... boring.....Thankfully, a small parcel of joy was waiting for me when we arrived home and it was so much nicer washing it!
My boys start pre-school on Thursday and require backpacks for their lunch and stuff. I've decided to make them with super bright Echino fabric and the Made by Rae toddler backpack pattern. Naturally, I also need to make one for Adele, so she is getting one from the Heather Ross, Far Far Away II fabric. I'm a little cranky that I picked two shade of pink that don't match.
So, photos from the trip. Look. I have a serious problem with photos. I ALWAYS forget to take them!! I have 5 photos from our week away and this is pretty much them, less one very out-of-focus pic of my mum and sis.
Clearly, these were all taken inside our holiday house. They were also taken within the first hour of arriving. You wouldn't know that these are holiday snaps. You wouldn't know that we were on the beach. You really can't tell much at all!
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time that my poor photography has resulted in a massive gap in documenting our life. While I would love to blame this problem on the fact that three kiddies require so much attention that I never remember to take happy snaps, I must admit that this is a long standing problem that my husband and I, have had for a while.
You see, photographic holes in our life have existed for a while. When we backpacked around Europe we'd travel through whole countries without taking a photo. We have no photos of Germany or the Netherlands. I think we have one or two photos documenting our travels through Greece, which maybe cover one Greek Island....
Every time we head out on a trip I try to remember to take photos. I promise myself I'll take photos. I threaten my husband with harm if he doesn't take photos. Nothing ever works!
Thankfully we have the memories. Clearly, we are having far too much fun to worry about picking up a camera! I'll stop beating myself up now.
Must go hang out another load of washing now....
Note: After walking away from the computer, I realised the irony of this post. I'm too busy to take photos of my family, but manage to take and post photos of dead grass and laundry drying. Ha! Clearly I need to get my priorities right!!!
Glad you guys are back, loving the Echino fabrics I will ogle them properly tomorrow. Sorry to see Dave's lawn burnt, hopefully he can bring it back from the brink!
