'Pick-Up Sticks' Camber

Well here's a bold dress!! I made it yesterday morning as my husband was out all day playing golf. Seriously - best - day - eva!! The kids were awesome and we just hung out and had fun.

I've made the Camber before a few times so this this was fast to make. I ended up extending the front darts a little on this one and taking in some volume in the back too. I also played with the pattern placement on the back yoke, because that's what I do :)

The fabric is from Tessuti. It's a Japanese cotton called Pick-Up Sticks. The black colour way is sold out online, but the red is still available.

I think this dress is exceptionally bold, but I shortened the hem as much as possible to reduce it's wildness. Does it work?

I think it will look cool with tights, boots and a orange cardigan for work.

Cost:
Pattern: Merchant and Mills Camber, used before = Free
Fabric 1.2m Japanese cotton from Tessuti = $30
Thread from stash
Total: $30

  4. This is a great dress, the pattern matching looks great. I've seen the fabric and wondered how it might look made up, now I know. And I NEED to know the brand of those orange boots - they are awesome and orange is my favourite colour!

  11. Thanks - they are new from Wittner http://www.wittner.com.au/shoes/long-boots/luisa-brandy.html Not quite orange though. Maybe the sunlight was playing with my pictures a little.

  13. Awesome dress Christy. I have this fabric in the red colourway and I was thinking I'd make a Tessuti Gabby Dress when the weather gets warmer. That will be one heck of the bold dress too!
