Every now and then I feel the need to make Adele and I matching clothes. Well not really, but if a pattern goes all the way down to kids sizes, like Jalie, and I just happed to have a sizable remnant, it's just easier to make two of the same thing.
This is the Jalie Drop Pocket Cardigan made out of a lovely thick, double sided wool knit that I purchased for my birthday.
I had hoped to used the underside for the pockets, but I couldn't find a neat way to finish the hems.
With Adele's I used an aqua flat lace trim to cover the hem. With mine I've used a contrast fuchsia knit as per the pattern instructions
I've love to say that I adore this cardigan, but it's clearly way too long for me. It's one of those items you make that you finish the hem quite early on, and I didn't even think to check the length.
It's super warm and comfy though, so I may just wear it around the home or if I find myself particularly motivated, I'll chop off the pockets and make the cardigan shorter and more wearable.
Adele loves hers. I managed to get her to smile once for the camera...
Before the cardigan became a cape.
Cost:
Fabric: 1.8m wool knit from The Fabric Store $36
Pattern: Jalie Drop Pocket Cardigan from Ebay $18
Thread from stash
Total (for both cardigans) $54 - Yikes! Good thing the fabric was a gift! Might have to chop those pockets off to get more use from it.
I love these cardis and I don't think it looks too long at all and I adore those pockets (especially your pink ones), but I guess it's a personal taste thing. I've been trawling the Internet lately looking for wool knits and cardigan pattern and some how missed this one, so thanks for the tip off
ReplyDeleteYou both look adorable.
ReplyDeleteThey look cute but I can see why you would want yours shortened. I hope you can find an easy solution to shortening the cardi.
ReplyDeleteAdele has the right idea, that is what those pocket are for, to make a flying cape. Great cardigans for both of you!
ReplyDeleteAww you guys so lovely together! Great cardi's too :)
ReplyDeleteI love this! And I think the length is fine. I like having a long, warm cardi in the winter.
ReplyDeleteBoth cardis are cute, and so are the photos of the two of you! Lovely colour combinations too. I am partial to the occasional bit of matchy matchy myself.
