The Pinwheel Skirt

A little while ago I spied a great little skirt tutorial on Ucreate and knew I had to make it.

So here it is, my very own Pinwheel Skirt!

(Please excuse the bad hair. My bad hair life continues)

I didn't include trim on the triangle panels as I think the skirt is extravagant enough. I also included the bottom of the side triangle pieces in the hem and hand stitched the waisband down, rather than top stitching.
I made the skirt with a piece of super cheap coral coloured cotton fabric. The label didn't specify what type of fabric it was, but it's quite heavy and textured, and appears to be the perfect weight for this project.

I still need fix the visible invisible zipper and sew a hook and eye to the top, but I really like the skirt. I even like the pleats at the back, which I was a little worried about. The only problem is figuring out where I'll wear it. It's quite extravagant and really needs to be worn with heels, but I don't think I can pull that look off in the playground or at school. Maybe I'll have to get hubby to take me out to dinner...

Now I've just realised that tomorrow will be my 100th post. To celebrate this bloggy achievement I think I'll arrange a giveaway so stay close to the pooter cus I think it'll be a good one!!

  1. Cute! Mn your sewing is so prolific... That colour is really pretty on you and I think it is great without the trim.

  3. I love, love, love this skirt and will put it on my project list. I reckon some lowish heels could work. I will have to see you with flats on with it as I reckon you might be able to get away with it. Nice one!

  4. I love it! You did a fantastic job! That color is fabulous and the waistband is impeccable. I can't wait to feature it on my Pinwheel Project post!
