And only one that looks like this. How sweet does she look?!! Shame it's all an act!
I'm happy with her moving on from the Frozen obsession as I am terribly sick of hearing her rendition of "Let it go," - which goes "Let it go! Let it go! I want you to win that prize!" over and over. Then when I ask her to stop, it becomes "Let it go, Let it go, I want you to smell that fart!" She's such a delightful child.
Adele and I picked this fabric during a very retrained trip to Spotlight, during which I purchased only the fabric for this dress, sports fabric to make bibs for Oliver's soccer team and fancy dance fabric for the school's dance group. Adele's dress fabric is a polyester velvet fabric with silver swirls on it. The cape is tulle with silver stars. Both were deemed very 'Elsa-ish' by the delightful one.
I used an existing dress pattern for the sizing, which I think may have been the Heidi and Finn cowl neck dress. The cape is a rectangle, the width of the fabric, which was gathered and basted along the shoulder seams and neck line prior to construction. This worked really well and if I ever make a dress up again, I'll also do this.
For the record, here's a photo of one of the bibs I made for Oliver's soccer team. He styled this photo himself. Clearly I do not have the same photography issues with my boys.
The bibs are more like netball bibs, just a hemmed rectangle attached with thick elastic at the sides and fold over elastic around the neck.
The boys tend to appreciate the clothes that I make them more than Adele, but Adele demands more. I feel that I've done enough sewing for the kids for now though :) Have you completed any selfless sewing lately?
oh I wish my delightful child would get over Frozen too, I'm thoroughly sick of that song! Apparently though her birthday party in January is going to be a Frozen party at the ice rink, so I figure I can postpone making an Elsa dress until then! Good work on your dress though, you're a very giving mum
ReplyDeleteIts amazing being a mum of only boys how many things pass me by - what is frozen? Did a bunch of sewing in may for Elvis (my eldest) but alas no pics yet either. Looks like you've far exceeded your quota, back to selfish sewing!
ReplyDeleteLet it go, let it gooooo.... You should hear the kindergarten boys sing it. Yes, BOYS. It cracks me up every time. You are a good mom. And your delightful child is adorable! Now go sew something completely selfish.
ReplyDeleteMy darlings are often impossible to photograph too. Looks like a great Elsa dress. I'm back in the realm of selfish sewing... Yah!
ReplyDeleteBahahaha, I love those alternate lyrics to "Let it Go"...I find myself humming that quite often...now it's going to be even more awesome. LOL!
ReplyDeleteDude, YOU need to watch Frozen! I'm 40 years old and I freaking loved that movie!
ReplyDeleteHah, with that review i think i'd better!
ReplyDeletewe have two little elsa dresses here made with the same spotlight awfulness. ditto the incessant singing along with made up lyrics. Bring on the end i say!!
ReplyDeleteThat same Spotlight fabric also became an Elsa dress in my house...
