Melbourne!

It's not often I get to steal a few precious days away from my family for a little R & R, but this last weekend I did just that, and ran off to Melbourne with my friend Rachel. I know! How lucky am I?!

After spending Friday shopping for shoes, trying to navigate H & M and eating our weight in dumplings, we headed out on Saturday to shop for my favorite thing - fabric!! I don't buy fabric often, so a binge every now and then feels soooo goood! Of course a fabric shopping day wouldn't be complete without meeting up with some like-minded sewing peeps to talk about that thing we love best...

Rachel and Leith helped us navigate our way back into the city from The Fabric Store, which was lucky as the trams were being screwy, and organised to take us out for dinner to Chin Chin with Anna and Lara - yum!!

While I adore my family, I do feel great after taking a few days off from them nagging me for a snack or telling me they're bored. I wish I could bank those wonderful days to draw on them later this week when I will surely need them.

Now for the fabric acquisitions and plans. I do love a good plan - don't you?
I purchased 'Autumn Botanies' stretch cotton sateen and 'Scratchy White Lines' cotton/viscose/lurex from Tessuti. Neither are on their site, but I'm sure if you phoned them, you could get your hands on some. The sateen is similar to this one sewn by Rachel, but in a different colourway. I think the sateen will become a sheath dress and the cotton/viscose fabric, a boxy top.
From the Alannah Hill outlet, I purchased some awfully shiny poly fabric to make something flammable bootiful for Adele. The plum fabric is a viscose or rayon (I think), which could become an Addison dress, but I haven't decided yet.
While we headed to Rathdowne Remnants, I only managed to find a completely impractical silk chiffon, copper sequined remnant on sale. I don't know what this will become. It may just mature in my stash for a while before I make a decision. From The Fabric Store, I nabbed an awesome dark purple merino, which will probably become a draped cardigan similar to Leith's and a plum ponte for a yet-to-be-decided project.

Nothing like a little fabric shopping to get you inspired to sew more!! Fingers crossed I get a little time at the machine this weekend to make something.
