New items listed in shop

I had a fantastic day at the markets yesterday and Baby Adele was a dream so I'll certainly try my luck again next month.

This is my favourite dress at the moment - so cute and versatile. My model luuurrves having his photo taken in exchange for treaties!

Ollies favourite are the pirate shorts. I see these being worn all winter long with long socks and gum boots.
Check out my shop for new items - more will be listed over the coming week.

Crochet is cool

I used to think that crochet was the lesser cousin of knitting. But on my recent holiday, I stumbled upon a number of super cool crochet books in little shop called Sew and Tell in Berry, that have changed my mind. In particular, this book by Lucinda Guy.

I've never seen such cool crochet designs. I think I'll try to make the boys vests for winter and when Adele is a little older I'm definately going to try to make her a dress or the adorable coat on the front cover of the book, though it doesn't get terribly cold here in Aus, so it might be a bit of a waste.
I must admit I appear to be a little obsessed with crochet at the moment... I wonder how long it will last...

I'll be listing more items in my shop over the next few days, just getting it all together.

Sewing day

Today is sewing day, well at least until I start uni next week. The boys are off at daycare and it's just me and baby Dell hanging out in the sewing room. I've just finished these adorable denim shift dresses with super cute, frilly cap sleeves. The denim is really soft with bit of stretch, so as not to restrict play when wearing, then each is matched with designer fabric for the sleeves and pocket (Echino linen in the middle and Anna Maria Horner for the others) . If these don't sell this weekend I'll list them in my shop next week or if your keen on them let me know, as I can make them to order in sizes 0 to 4.

I'm also currently crocheting a little on the side, getting stuck into my second cardi for Dell. She's definitely going to be the best dressed baby this winter.

I should be sewing...

With my first markets fast approaching, I should be sewing or listing items in my empty shop, but instead I'm crocheting for my little girl. I finished this adorable bolero last night - how cute is my model???After the success of my first little cardi, I purchased some lovely yarn from the Bendigo Woolen Mills. This bolero is made from luxury 4 ply baby wool in purple storm. I used a pattern from this Cleckheaton book, making the bolero design with a simple picot edge, which I slightly modified to produce a frillier edge.

I also have a ball of 4 ply cotton in Cerise which I plan to make a traditional matinee jacket with, probably using a pattern from this book that I purchased on our recent holiday. I think the traditional design in a modern colour and yarn will be lovely for little miss to wear in winter. It's also an easy way to extend the wear of many of the dresses we have, just add tights and a cardi for cooler weather.

So true - so cute!!

I just found this fabulous tutorial on the Moda Bake Shop site for a super adorable baby quilt/play mat. So, so true.

I'm definitely going to have to make this for the next close friend who has a baby.

Op shop gold!

I've been op shopping a bit recently, largely due to budget constraints and scored some great buys including a selection of vintage patterns in sizes for both the boys and baby Dell. I think I'll make James some overalls from the bottom left pattern and a bonnet for baby Dell from the pattern on the bottom right. The PJs are also super cute, but I'm not sure I'm that gung ho about sewing to make clothes for the kids to sleep in...

I think I'll also make this cute little dress for baby Dell, probably from this coral and white linen blend fabric from my stash. It's not an obvious choice, but I think the large scale print will look awesome on a little one.

A couple of weeks ago I hit the jackpot at a different local op shop and scored a great vintage bedsheet in a faux patchwork print which I promptly made into a cute dress for baby Dell. The light teal tablecloth with large floral print is also super cool and in great condition. I'm not sure yet if it'll be a skirt for me or a dress for a babe. I'll keep you posted.

New headers

So now I have a new header for my blog and shop, along with a new business card which will shortly be with the printer.

I intend to list new items in my shops by the end of the week. That is, if the kids will let me....

time to start....

Well it's the new year, we're back from our holiday to Mollymook and it's time to start selling, rather than just making and keeping.

I'm trying to turn my hobby into a little pocket money, rather than it being a household expense. You can only make so many items for yourself before things get a little excessive. I mean how many dresses does one baby girl need??

To get things started here's a pic of a new little cardigan a whipped up for Baby Dell on holidays. I've used a Sirdar pattern 1578 and used Sirdar luxury soft cotton yarn in a lovely coral/watermelon pink. It's so soft and nice, just a little big on Dell so it'll be perfect for winter.
